It has been a year since I started school ** an update**
by noni1974 inwell this time last year i was waiting for my first semester at college to start.
i had no idea how i would do in my classes.
my first semester was a complete surprise for me because not only did i do it, but, i did it well ending up on the dean's list with a 3.57 gpa for the semester.

They NEED this system to be rotten... and why they can't wait to die.
by Aussie Oz inafter visiting my jw mother i came away convinced she is just as hard core as she ever was.
oh, she may bend the rules a little in not shunning her children but at heart she is jw through and through.
i had wondered if perhaps she was wavering but i doubt it.. during our visit, when i was out of the house, she had an attempt to inform my wife that the end was close...my athiest wife shot that down as nonsense much to mums apparent dislike i think.. however, it was while the tv was on in the backgound that i realized how deep she is still.

As Christians we're told that all governments are appointed by God, are God's servants and are answerable to him for the messes they make. We're supposed to submit to them and pray for them, not enjoy watching them go down the toilet.
To the Watchtower and Jehovah's Witnesses that all ended in 1914. Seriously. The only doctrine they have that remotely supports the secular authorities on this planet is to obey the laws as long as they don't conflict with what our religion tells you. If it comes to a choice, the religion comes first, above the government.
Some examples are that JW parents will try to refuse blood transfusions for their kids even when the law requires them to accept, that JW elders refuse to get criminal background checks even when the law requires that they do so, and that JWs will often ignore "No Trespassing" signs, opening and entering private property through closed gates even in places where it is unlawful to do so.
If the organization told them to take all the money that they should be paying in taxes and instead donate it to the Watchtower, the majority of JWs would do so with little or no hesitation.

Molested in 53 another JW Casualty
by exwhyzee ini have a relative who is now about 73 is a really cool, smart old guy a paul newman look alike who has led an interesting and successful life, traveled the world and raised a large family.
he was raised as a witness by his mother whose husband left the family when she became a witness.
many of his siblings and relatives have gone on to be circuit overseers, gilead grads and bethelites but he left the truth when he was in his teens.

Positives of Growing Up JW
by Pig ini dont think any of us are glad we grew up in the org.
but i was thinking about people who get cancer, and if they are lucky enough to beat it often they will say that they were better for the experience.
before they got cancer they were stressed because they had to work extra hours in a shitty job to make ends meet, the kids were nothing but trouble and they spent their lives wishing that time would go faster, that week would be over, that the year would be over.

I would never have met and married my wife if not for being a Dub.
Um, that's about it.
My upbringing was happy but IT WASN'T REAL. I can't really bring myself to find a lot of positives in living a lie even if it did make me think I was happy for a long time.

Let's Face It - There Has NEVER Been a PARADISE - And There Never Will Be
by sizemik inthere exists an archaeological site in south- east turkey called gobekli tepe, which is dated at close to 12,000 years old .
pre-dating the biblical account of the creation of man by at least 6,000 years.
the site is notable for it's religious temples, built by people with only simple rudimentary tools etc.

Speaking of holodeck, I'm reminded of the Bruce Willis film Surrogates. I am afraid that if such technologies became available BILLIONS of people would enter the matrix willingly and never come out again.

one things is undeniable.
The action or whatever it may be, is real, has hit the news, has reached the court system and must be played out.
And yet you will still have people come into this thread and deny the undeniable, claim they are confused and don't know what's going on, and then proceed to type a dogmatically worded essay explaining to everyone else exactly what's going on. The intellectual laziness and/or dishonesty seen in this thread has been striking and disappointing.
As to what exactly is going to come of all this, does anyone really believe Mr. Unthank expects the GB members to be rounded up and imprisoned? He's not a stupid man. You don't go up against the Borg and expect to bring it down with one court case. Best case scenario, in my opinion, would be for them to have to pay some sort of fine, require all elders and MS to submit to the background checks, and get enough publicity to prompt similar laws to be passed in other jurisdictions and to inform the public about the Borg pedophile coverups. The bonus Mr.Unthank seems to also be shooting for is to get another set of court transcripts (much like the ones with Franz, Moyle, etc.) where Borg leadership admits things under oath that we can use against them. That's why he's charging the FDS in addition to the GB and the corporations. Those are my opinions.

I think we should encourage as many elders and MS we know to strengthen their faith in the Org by reading "The Finished Mystery" which was THE book of the Watchtower during the time period Jesus chose them to be the FDS. I've sent the .pdf of the book to a bunch of people. Maybe it will do some good.

It's like one side of the brain fighting the other.
It is EXACTLY like that, Oz. It is the genuine person and the cult personality (what Borg calls "the new personality") struggling for dominance. Even when you see a bit of the genuine personality the cult personality is always right there to jump in and temper any joy or genuineness the real person might have.
Sad.

Women and Pants
by Lynnie ini'm still amazed that the wtbts still don't allow women to wear pants to meetings etc.
is this a disfellowshipping offense?.
-

ANYTHING can be a disfellowshipping offense if when counseled on it by the elders you respond with a "brazen" attitude.
If a woman insists on wearing pants to meetings she will lose her privileges (as meager as those are). Then, if she tries to spread the pants-wearing or is counseled on pants-wearing and is intransigent, the elders can DF her.

Nebuchadnezzar's dream image - no room for China?
by SweetBabyCheezits ina guy who used to be a jw buddy recently gave me hope that he's waking up to the wt fallacy.
he's concerned about the fact that china is becoming the next superpower, which creates issues for the statue in daniel ch.
2.. based on current jw light, there's no room for a single dominant world power after the "politically fragmented" landscape appears (the feet of mixed clay/iron).
